Champ du Feu

Champ du Feu is the highest point of the Bas-Rhin, at 1,099 metres above sea level. Its 360° panorama over the Vosges, the Alsace plain, the Black Forest and, on clear days, the Alps, makes it one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the region.

Why discover Champ du Feu with a private driver?

Snowy roads in winter

From December to March, the roads leading to Champ du Feu are regularly snow-covered or icy. Our vehicle is fitted with winter tyres and our driver knows these roads in all weather conditions, so your winter outing takes place in complete safety, even after fresh snowfall.

Panorama without worrying about the return

The view from the observation tower or the ridges of Champ du Feu is well worth lingering over. Your driver waits while you enjoy the panorama, the walk or lunch at the Mont Champ du Feu hotel. And there is no shuttle or mountain bus timetable to worry about.

Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing

Champ du Feu has a Nordic ski area with several marked cross-country skiing trails and snowshoe paths. Taking skis or snowshoes in our spacious boot is easy. At the end of the day, your driver picks you up directly at the trail exit.

Families with children

Champ du Feu is an ideal place for families — sledging, walks, playground and restaurant. Our van seats up to 7 passengers with all the necessary equipment. Child seats for young children are available on request, so the family day can be organised serenely.

From Strasbourg in 55 minutes

Champ du Feu is about 55 minutes from Strasbourg. Many travellers on a stopover want to discover the Alsatian Vosges without renting a car. So Elsass VTC provides this transfer from your Strasbourg hotel to the summit, with a return at the end of the day.

Combined with other sites

On a chauffeur-for-hire basis, one day can include Champ du Feu in the morning, Struthof in the afternoon and a return through Barr in the evening. The route depends on your interests — your driver adapts.

Champ du Feu, roof of the Bas-Rhin

Champ du Feu peaks at 1,099 metres in the Alsatian Vosges, in the commune of Bellefosse in the Bas-Rhin. It is the highest point in the department and one of the most accessible and spectacular summits of the Northern Vosges. Its evocative name refers to the signal fires lit long ago on the ridges to warn people on the plain of danger. The site has been famous for centuries for its exceptional panorama over four countries — France, Germany, Switzerland and, on clear days, Austria in the distance.

But Champ du Feu is not only a viewpoint. It is also a full outdoor leisure destination, enjoyed all year round: summer hikes along the Vosges ridges, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter, sledging and games for children, and Alsatian cuisine at the summit hotel-restaurant. The observation tower, built in 1898 by the Club Vosgien, adds a heritage and historical dimension to the site.
