Cobblestone streets in concentric rings, half-timbered houses, Grand Cru cellars: Eguisheim is best visited on foot, never by car. Elsass VTC takes you there from Colmar, Barr or Strasbourg — tastings, evenings, Wine Route tours, weddings at the estates.
Eguisheim is a commune of 1,700 inhabitants 5 km southwest of Colmar, at the foot of the Vosges hills. Viticulture has been attested there since the 8th century, Carolingian era, making it one of the oldest terroirs in Alsace and the recognized cradle of its vineyard.
The village is not only a wine-growing terroir: its circular medieval layout, unique in Alsace, its colorful streets and its 9th-century castle make it one of the most visited destinations in Haut-Rhin. A private driver allows you to combine cellar, meal and visit in one day, without ever getting back behind the wheel.
The terroir of Eguisheim produces two Grands Crus, Eichberg and Pfersigberg, renowned for their Gewurztraminer and Riesling. Several cellars in the village offer tasting and direct sales — a full-day availability allows you to chain cellar, meal and walk without time constraints.
Eguisheim is reached from Colmar via the D83, west of the city. Its proximity makes it an ideal stop to combine from any hotel in the Colmar-Central Alsace region.
Airport transfer, evening at a cellar, Wine Route tour or wedding at an estate: Elsass VTC adapts to every occasion, from Colmar, Barr, Strasbourg or any other point in Alsace.
