For one person travelling alone with little luggage, during the day, the train plus bus is cheaper. A driver makes sense for early morning flights or late evening returns, families, groups, bulky luggage, a day at Europa-Park and business appointments in Basel or Zurich.
For a 6 am flight from Basel-Mulhouse airport, you need to be at the terminal by around 4.30 am. That means leaving Mulhouse around 4 am, to allow for the drive and keep a margin.
The first bus, around 5 am, arrives too late. This is one of the cases where a driver makes the most sense, along with late evening returns, families, groups and bulky luggage.

The driver comes from Barr, 84 km from Mulhouse: book in advance, especially for morning flights. For Basel and Zurich, Switzerland is outside the European Union: a valid ID card or passport is required, and customs checks are possible.

We monitor your flight number. Waiting time due to a delayed flight is included at no extra charge, and the driver welcomes you in the arrivals hall with a sign bearing your name. The journey in the opposite direction, from the airport to Mulhouse, is available too.

Mon train ayant eu près d’une heure de retard, il m’a attendue à la gare avec beaucoup de patience et de gentillesse, ce que j’ai particulièrement apprécié. Trajet très agréable également.
